Skylark-traditional and contemporary songs with harmony singing, flute and fiddle
Clare
Clare has an interest in improvised music and adds spontaneous melodies to the songs. The flute is a versatile intrument. Clare, with all her changes of tone, adds texture to our songs.
Clare also enjoys singing with us when she's not playing her flute.
Jane
Jane is Skylark's lead vocalist. Her voice suits the blues, gospel and traditional songs that we all love performing. Jane's rich and strong voice gives us the confidence to add the harmonies that we enjoy singing.
Jane also plays mandolin and percussion. Her mandolin gives a great sound to some of our songs. Her percussion includes bodhran, djembe, various shakers and eggs. She even includes a bit of 'body beat box' at times.
Caroline
Caroline, with her love of American fiddling, adds the traditional 'Old Time' and 'Bluegrass'feel to the songs and enjoys joining Clare for some bluesy breaks. She adds vocal harmonies to the songs and sometimes adds fiddle backing with these. Caroline also introduces some of her favourite, lively and rhythmic American fiddle dance tunes to the band.
Sarah
Sarah plays many stringed instruments. In Skylark she plays guitar to give driving rhythms to the band and adds colour to our songs with original finger picking breaks.
